"Rural Telephones of Georgia" opens at Thronateeska Heritage Center on September 22, 2018 for Smithsonian Day Live! The exhibit explores how telephones in Southwest Georgia have changed. The exhibit features a wide array of artifacts and images from Southwest Georgia. On loan from Marie Watson-Allen, the exhibit features over one hundred telephones collected by Talmadge Brazel, also known as the "Telephone Man." Brazel worked for a telephone company in Moultrie, Georgia for over forty-three years where he was able to collect and restore all types of phones.
